Demonstration called ‘Musical act 2: the return’ will take place this Sunday (14)
Several artists prepared to gather this Sunday (14) in a demonstration in Copacabana, against the National Congress. The act was called by singer Caetano Veloso in the wake of the approval of the Dosimetry bill. “This list for me is very important because it really refers to everything that appeared as scandalously problematic in the attitude of Congress, of the Chamber of Deputies”, says Caetano, in the video. “Rio de Janeiro in the streets. Let’s return Congress to the people”, says the publication shared on the musician and his wife Paula Lavigne’s networks.
The demonstration in Rio was called “Musical act 2: the return”, in reference to the mobilization carried out in September against the Blindagem PEC and the attempted amnesty for those convicted of the attempted coup d’état. Among the confirmed participations are: and . Participations are also expected from , , Fernanda Abreu, Baco Exu do Blues, Xamã, Lenine and Tony Bellotto.
In the call-to-action video, Caetano Veloso also listed the main agendas of the protest, which in addition to the Dosimetry PL, which reduces the sentences of those convicted of the 8th of January and the coup plot and which was approved in the Chamberalso calls for investigation of the Pix amendments, more transparency in the Master case and decorum and responsibility in the Federal Supreme Court (STF), among other points.
In addition to Rio de Janeiro, other regions of Brazil will also have demonstrations, such as Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Belém, Recife, Porto Velho, Rio Branco, Goiânia and the capital Brasília. In São Paulo, the event is scheduled to take place in front of the São Paulo Museum of Art (Masp), on Avenida Paulista, starting at 2 pm. The mobilizations are being articulated by artists, parliamentarians and influencers linked to the left.
