Juninho’s departure from Flamengo: values and details
The deal was closed for 5 million euros (around R$31.7 million at current prices). The value drew attention behind the scenes as it reflected the amount invested by the Rio club to sign the athlete at the beginning of the year from Qarabag.
Furthermore, Juninho is expected to leave the Rio club this season. However, he still remains integrated into the red and black squad. The striker continues with the group in Qatar, where Flamengo is competing in the Intercontinental Cup.
The player’s participation in the competition is maintained, and he has been training normally with his teammates. The club’s official departure will only take place after the end of the international tournament.
Juninho’s situation at Flamengo
The sale is seen by Flamengo as a strategic market opportunity both to raise cash and for possible moves in the next transfer window.
The internal assessment is that Juninho was unable to establish himself as a fundamental part of the team. The strong competition in the offensive sector weighed on the decision to release the attacker given a proposal considered fair.
Juninho’s numbers with Flamengo
- 1 season (2025)
- 32 games
- 4 goals
- 2 titles (Libertadores and Brasileirão 2025)
