What can you make with frankfurters?apart from heating them in boiling water? These thin, smoked sausages will work great as a meat insert gypsy cauldron. This delicious dish will be perfect if you want to prepare a filling dinner for several days. It’s especially great in winter, when we come home cold and want something warm. The dish combines colorful peppers, the aroma of smoked bacon and a tomato sauce full of spices. I’m sure everyone will like it and ask for more.
To prepare this recipe, you will need:
- 250 g frankfurters,
- 150 g smoked bacon,
- 1 green pepper,
- 1 yellow pepper,
- 1 yellow onion,
- 1 red onion,
- 2 cloves of garlic,
- 500 ml tomato passata,
- 1 teaspoon of tomato paste,
- 1 teaspoon of marjoram,
- 1 teaspoon of sweet pepper,
- ½ teaspoon of hot pepper,
- ½ teaspoon of smoked paprika,
- salt, pepper (to taste).
Gypsy cauldron tastes great with bread or mashed potatoes.
Cut the frankfurters into rings and the bacon into cubes. Fry the bacon and sausage in a dry frying pan.
Cut both onions into cubes. Chop the garlic. Remove the meat from the pan and fry the onion in the remaining fat. At the end of frying the onion, add garlic to the pan.
Remove the seeds from the peppers. Cut the flesh into cubes. Add the onion to the pan and fry until soft.
Return the meat to the pan. Also pour in the tomato passata and tomato paste. Mix the ingredients.
Simmer the contents of the pan covered for about 20 minutes. While doing so, season with marjoram, ground peppers, salt and pepper.
