The minister of the (Federal Supreme Court) voted this Friday (12) to make defendants three accused at the airport on Christmas Eve 2022.
They were accused by the (Attorney General’s Office) of armed criminal association, attempted violent abolition of the democratic rule of law and a coup d’état, in addition to attacking air transport security.
George Washington de Oliveira Sousa, Alan Diego dos Santos and Wellington Macedo were denounced. According to the complaint, they articulated in a tanker truck near the airport. The three were supporters of the former president (PL).
George Washington allegedly made the device and the other two accused placed the material in the vehicle, “with the aim of provoking terror, social instability and justifying military intervention.”
In his vote, Moraes said that “conducts and demonstrations that have the clear purpose of controlling or even annihilating the strength of critical thinking, indispensable to the democratic regime, are unconstitutional, as are those that intend to destroy it, together with its republican institutions, preaching violence, arbitrariness, disrespect for the separation of Powers and fundamental rights”.
“There will not be a democratic State of Law without State Powers, independent and harmonious among themselves, as well as provision of fundamental rights and instruments that enable the monitoring and perpetuity of these requirements.”
The trial takes place in the virtual plenary of the First Panel of the Supreme Court (the platform where ministers cast their votes, without discussion), in a session scheduled to last until the 19th. In addition to Moraes, the group includes ministers , and .
