Record harvest of table potatoes depresses prices, tight supply of eggs


Vienna – A record harvest of table potatoes has halved the producer price paid to farmers compared to the previous year. Now potato farmers are hoping for stronger consumer demand around Christmas and better sales prices for their stored goods. When it comes to eggs, the bird flu that is rampant in Europe has led to a tight supply situation and higher prices.
