The Ukrainian Navy announced on Saturday that Russia attacked a Turkish civilian ship transporting sunflower oil to Egypt with a drone in the Black Sea. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.
“Russia launched a targeted drone attack on the Turkish ship VIVA, which she was heading to Egypt and carrying sunflower oil,” the Ukrainian Navy wrote on social networks. It added that none of the 11-man crew were injured in the attack and the vessel is able to continue its journey.
The ship was located in Ukraine’s exclusive economic zone and was sailing through the corridor, which stretches along the coast and is supposed to ensure the safe transport of important agricultural goods across the Black Sea.
This is the second Russian attack on a Turkish ship in recent days. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a personal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, called for an end to attacks on ports and energy infrastructure.
