Former superstar Samuel Tomeček (39) and his partner Dominika couldn’t wait for the arrival of their son. However, a normal pregnancy turned into a drama in an instant and the baby boy was born almost a month early. The singer spoke about the terrifying circumstances of the birth of little Tristan . Today he is smiling from ear to ear because he has a beautiful family, but one more decision was enough and everything would have been different.
The couple expected that their son would be born shortly before Christmas. The doctors set the delivery date for December 20. Tomeček joked in the morning show that they still had twenty-two days, just as he sings in his hit Meky Žbirka. “It was Saturday. I was just after a concert. I had the only day off between concerts, so I was very lucky that I was only on a photo shoot in Senica, so not far from our home,” he recalled of the fateful day.
Dominika phoned him that she was not feeling well. She felt something was wrong with her, but she didn’t think it was anything major. The singer preferred to return and then they went straight to the hospital together.
After the examinations, everything seemed to be fine. A stone fell from Tomek’s heart and he was looking forward to going back home. When Dominika mentioned to the doctor that the baby was moving less in the belly, she preferred to hospitalize her. “So the first saving grace of the day was from the doctor, for which I am grateful,” he confessed honestly.
Tomeček ran off to do some shopping, and shortly after his return, the drama began. “About 15-20 minutes after I came back she started bleeding profusely,” he described, saying that he quickly ran out of the room and called the medical staff. The doctors concluded that Dominika had to go to an emergency procedure. “They said that if we hadn’t been in the hospital and this had happened, there’s a good chance that here…” he began, but the moderators immediately stopped him before he even finished the sentence out loud.
The former superstar planned to be there for the birth of his first child, but his plan changed in an instant. Since it was an acute section, during which his partner was under full anesthesia, Samo could not be with her in the hall. For now, the musician was standing in the corridor and was experiencing great fear. “For the first time in my life, I was not afraid of myself, but I was already approaching death for those closest to me,“ he admitted openly.
“After that, when they brought my son to me, I was terribly worried about her. It took about 3.5 hours before I saw her. I already had such feelings that if we were not left alone now, that would be terrible. All the saints stood by us and I am very grateful that it was so,” he confided in a live broadcast. He was even the first to experience bonding, and he took care of his son for two days in the hospital basically by himself. “I also slept with him that first night, because Dominika was very sore. It was unbelievable” he added.
