Every house has a different recipe for borscht. This soup can be cooked in various ways, seasoning as desired. The ingredients used do not have much significance in the context of superstitions. They mainly concern the method of preparation.

Borscht is usually cooked two days before the holidays, some people prepare it even earlier and store it. Both methods are good and proven, but you should remember a few things when cooking. The most important of them says that the soup must not boil over. Why? Because it may bring bad luck. This is one of the folk superstitions – spilled, broken or spilled things were supposed to be associated with misfortune. Even if it’s scattered.

The same is true for borscht – when cooking, do not allow it to boil over. Spilled soup may indicate an upcoming quarrel during Christmas Eve dinner and make bad luck stay in your home even for the whole year.
