In an interview with journalists, the Prime Minister of Australia, also praised the man’s action. “Today we saw Australians running into danger to help others, they are heroes and their bravery saved lives,” he said.

The name of the “hero” is Ahmed al Ahmed. Father of two, the 43-year-old man owns a fruit shop in Sutherland Shire, an area south of Sydney. He was near Bondi beach when the shooting started.

The man falls to the ground and Ahmed al Ahmed points the rifle at him. The shooter went out towards a walkway, where the second shooter was.
