The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), voted behind and decided to maintain the escort of agents who provide the personal security of deputy Talíria Petrone (PSOL-RJ).

The decision was taken this Saturday (13) after the parliamentarian announced on social media that the protection had been withdrawn by the House. Since 2020, the deputy has been accompanied by agents from the Federal Legislative Police (PLF) after receiving constant death threats.

“I was surprised by the withdrawal of my protection in recent days, in the midst of a turbulent week in the Chamber of Deputies [caso Glauber Braga]. From the first moment, two days ago, I tried to contact President Hugo Motta, without success, which generated great concern. A little while ago, I received a call from the President of the House informing him that he will accept the appeal regarding my escort, guaranteeing the return of the conditions to exercise his mandate safely”, said the deputy.

According to the Chamber, the escort was removed after a technical opinion issued by the PLF concluded that there were no longer recurring threats against Talíria.

According to the House’s press office, the opinion was prepared after consultations carried out with the assistance of the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro (MP-RJ) and the Federal Police (PF).

The House also informed that the escort will be maintained on a provisional basis until a final decision on the request for reconsideration presented by the deputy.
