Trump admits Republican defeat in 2026 midterm elections

According to an opinion poll conducted by the University of Chicago for the Associated Press, only 31% of Americans are satisfied with Donald Trump’s economic policy.

Donald Trump acknowledged that Republicans could lose the 2026 midterm elections, despite what he considers the success of the White House’s economic policy, in an interview with (WSJ) published on Saturday.

“I created the greatest economy in history. But it takes time for people to realize that,” said the President of the United States in the interview that the economic newspaper says took place on Friday in the Oval Office of the White House.

“All this money that is coming into our country [permite] right now building things: car factories, (IA), lots of things. [Mas] I can’t say how this will be translated by voters. All I can do is my job”, admitted the Republican head of state.

Donald Trump has regularly stated that the United States economy is flourishing since his return to the White House on January 20, and continues to attribute responsibility for inflation to his Democratic predecessor, Joe Biden.

“I think that in a few months, when we talk about the elections, the price level will be good,” he told the WSJ, with less than a year to go before the mid-term elections, which will allow, at the beginning of November 2026, to renew the Chamber of Representatives and a third of the Senate.

“Even those who have had a successful presidency” have suffered setbacks, acknowledged the 79-year-old former real estate developer, first elected in 2016.

“We’ll see what happens. We should win. But statistically, it’s very difficult to win,” Trump admitted.

According to an opinion poll conducted by the University of Chicago for the Associated Press, published last Thursday, only 31% of Americans are satisfied with Donald Trump’s economic policy.

“When will the polls show the greatness of today’s America?”, he asked on the social network he owns, Truth Social.

“When will they finally say that I created, without inflation, perhaps the best economy in the history of our country? When will people understand what is happening?”, he added in a publication this Friday.
