Negotiations in Berlin

“We are currently preparing for meetings with the American side and our European friends in the coming days. Berlin – there will be many events,” said Zelensky, who is also expected to hold talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

However, it is not yet clear whether Zelenskyi will arrive in Berlin on Sunday and whether he will meet with the US President’s envoy Steve Witkoff.

Details of security guarantees

Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian experts are currently working on the details of the security guarantees that Kyiv demands as a condition for peace with Russia. He emphasized that it is a fair peace for Ukraine with a guarantee that Russia will not invade Ukraine again.

“Our negotiating position is strong because we maintain our positions on the front, in the defense industry and in internal stability,” Zelenskyy added.

Negotiations between Ukrainian representatives and representatives of the United States and European countries on the restoration of the war-torn state are also planned in Berlin.

Zelenskyj: Meetings with US representatives will be the most important

“The most important thing will be my meetings with the representatives of (US) President Donald Trump, as well as conversations with European partners and several leading politicians about the foundations of peace – that is, about a political agreement to end the war,” Zelenskyy said.

At the same time, the Ukrainian leader criticized Donald Trump’s original 28-point plan, saying that it contained many Russian demands. According to him, the emphasis in Berlin is now on active and constructive cooperation leading to a dignified agreement. Russian representatives will not participate in the negotiations.

A meeting on a possible ceasefire in Ukraine should also take place on Sunday at the level of advisers. The place and time of these consultations remain confidential for the time being according to the agreement of the parties involved.
