Zambelli must serve his sentence in prison in DF – 12/13/2025 – Power

If extradited to Brazil, the federal deputy must serve her sentence in the Federal District Women’s Penitentiary, known as Colmeia. The prison is medium security and receives women in open, semi-open and closed regimes.

The information is in an order from the minister released this Saturday (13).

The penitentiary has capacity for more than a thousand inmates and at the end of last year it had 697 inmates, according to a report from the Federal District government.

This capacity was exceeded when the prison received those investigated for the acts of January 8, but the situation would have normalized after that.

According to the judgment of the Criminal Executions Court of the Federal District, the population of Colmeia is separated into blocks depending on the profile of each one — inmates in different regimes, such as closed and semi-open, do not coexist.

“The allocation of inmates observes technical criteria defined by the Penitentiary Administration, considering vulnerabilities, risks, assistance needs and the preservation of the physical and moral integrity of those in custody”, says the document.

The Federal District government points out that the penitentiary has “workshops, literacy classrooms, primary and secondary education and libraries”.

It also states that there is a ward for pregnant women and another ward for breastfeeding women, who remain with their babies until at least six months of age, in addition to the availability of gynecological, general clinical, psychiatry, psychology, dentistry and pediatric care.

The piece also states that the penitentiary “adopts institutional routines for monitoring and preventing rights violations, with periodic inspections of control bodies and internal supervisory mechanisms.” It also says that “the unit observes standards of health and safety assistance provided for in the Criminal Execution Law”.

Despite the statements made by the Court of Criminal Executions of the Federal District, district deputy Fábio Feliz (PSOL-DF) denounced a “degrading situation” in Colmeia in a speech made in October this year. The parliamentarian said he had heard several reports of human rights violations. “The unit is not fulfilling the role designated by society, aiming at the resocialization of inmates,” he stated.

Zambelli fled Brazil in June after being sentenced to a ten-year prison sentence for the (National Council of Justice) and the issuing of a false arrest warrant against Moraes. When she was already in , she was sentenced to another five years for illegal restraint. The two cases make up a single extradition process.

At the beginning of the month, the Italian Justice.

Since being arrested, Zambelli has had two unfavorable decisions in the Italian courts. The Court of Appeal rejected the defense’s request that she await the case under house arrest or freedom, as it assessed that there was a risk of flight. In October, the Court of Cassation, the last instance, denied the appeal and kept Zambelli in prison.
