Cruzeiro’s 2025 season is finally over. With the elimination to Corinthians, in the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil, this Sunday (14), the team from Minas Gerais is now planning next year, both for the arrivals and departures of players, as well as for the coach.
And the biggest question behind the scenes at the moment is whether or not Leonardo Jardim will stay. The Portuguese has a contract until the end of 2026, but dissatisfaction with aspects of Brazilian football and the daily routine could make the coach leave Toca da Raposa II.
After the fall at the Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo, Jardim once again commented on the future. According to him, there will be a meeting with the board of directors this week to decide the next steps.
“Today is a day of mourning, of great sadness for the entire Cruzeiro family. Today is not the day to have this chat. We will definitely talk tomorrow [técnico e diretoria] about everything related to the coach’s future”, revealed the coach.
On the other hand, there is no doubt: Leonardo Jardim needs to continue. Raposa’s assessment is that the Portuguese has raised the team’s level and is the best news for the club in the current season.
Since February in star command, Jardim has led Cruzeiro to third place in the Brazilian Championship, the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil and a place in the group stage of the Libertadores.
