After ultrasound, doctors recommend surgery for Bolsonaro, says lawyer

After undergoing an ultrasound exam this Sunday (14), the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) received a recommendation from the medical team to undergo further surgery. According to lawyer João Henrique Nascimento de Freitas, the procedure would be carried out to treat two inguinal hernias.

“The medical team has just left the Federal Police Superintendence after carrying out ultrasound exams on Pr. Jair Bolsonaro. The exams identified two inguinal hernias, and the doctors recommended that he undergo a surgical procedure, the only form of definitive treatment for the condition”, stated the lawyer in X.

On Friday (12), the minister Alexandre de Moraesfrom the STF (Supreme Federal Court), . The former president is serving a prison sentence at the Federal Police Superintendency in the Federal District.

Moraes authorized the examination to be carried out at the place where the former president is held, under the terms requested by the defense. The lawyers requested a visit from doctor Bruno Luís Barbosa Cherulli with portable ultrasound equipment to examine Bolsonaro’s right and left inguinal regions.

This week, lawyers also made a new request regarding visits. The defense proposed a prior registration only of Michelle Bolsonaro and the former president’s children directly at the PF Superintendency, with visits from Monday to Friday, without the need for new weekly repetitive court requests.

Moraes, however, denied the request and maintained the current rules for visits, requiring judicial authorization. For the minister, “there is no reasonable reason for changes to be made” to the procedures.
