The former president (PL) underwent ultrasound exams this Sunday (14), at the Federal Police Superintendence, in Brasília, where he is detained. According to lawyer João Henrique Nascimento de Freitas, who is part of the defense team, the results indicated the need for surgery.
According to Freitas, the ultrasound identified two inguinal hernias, a condition characterized by the displacement of part of the intestine due to defects in the abdominal wall, in the groin region. “Exams identified two inguinal hernias, and doctors recommended that he undergo a surgical procedure, the only form of definitive treatment for the condition,” said the lawyer in a post on social media.
The defense had requested authorization to carry out the tests on Thursday (11), indicating doctor Bruno Luís Barbosa Cherulli. In the request sent to the Court, the lawyers highlighted the urgency and informed that the procedure would be non-invasive, without the need for sedation or hospital facilities.
