Couple was found with stab wounds: they were murdered this Sunday. One of the sons, Nick Reiner, is being questioned by the police.
The American director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reinerwere found dead on Sunday afternoon in their home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, the family confirmed to the media, through a spokesperson.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is investigating the deaths as “a apparent murder“. The injuries on the couple’s bodies are consistent with those usually reported by a makesay several North American media, such as ae .
One of three children of the longtime couple (since 1989), Nick Reiner32 years old, was being questioned by the police, but was not detained. Nick, who had already spoken publicly about his problem with drug addiction, life on the streets and living with his family, is named by multiple sources, according to the magazine, as the perpetrator of the double murder, but the police did not confirm the statements.
Comedy pioneer with a hand in politics
A pioneer of television comedy, Rob Reiner was 78 years old and an American actor, director and producer, son of comedian Carl Reiner. In the 80s, Rob established himself as one of Hollywood’s most versatile filmmakers: he stood out in several comedies, such as This Is Spinal Tap (1984)but also in remarkable dramas that are still appreciated today, such as the classic “coming-of-age” Stand by Me (1986).
But already in the 70s, Rob Reiner, born in the Bronx, was successful on television, as Michael “Meathead” Stivic in the series All in the Family (1971–1979).
Later, still in the 80s, he gained even more notoriety with the romantic adventure tale The Princess Bride (1987)romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally… (1989). And in the early 1990s, with the psychological thriller Misery (1990) and the court drama A Few Good Men (1992).
More recently, Reiner has made guest appearances on television series such as “New Girl” (“Jess and the Boys”) as Jess’s father and on the award-winning series “The Bear.”
Aside from his career, Rob Reiner has had a public and consistent connection to Democratic Party of the United States. He campaigned for Al Gore (2000) and supported other Democratic candidates in subsequent election cycles, such as Barack Obama e Hillary Clinton.
The former president said that he and his wife, Michelle Obama, were “heartbroken” and that Reiner’s legacy went far beyond his prolific career as an actor and film and television director.
“Behind every story he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people — and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into practice,” Obama wrote in a statement. “Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they upheld and the countless people they inspired.”
Rob also stood out in terms of activismby co-founding the American Foundation for Equal Rights, an organization created to support the legal challenge to Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in California. He was also linked to public policy campaigns in the state, such as Proposition 10, on funding early childhood programs through a tobacco tax.
Michele Reiner, film producer and photographer, was 68 years old. Met Rob on the set of the romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally…(1989) and they had been together ever since.
