In the case of Jennifer S., who was killed in 2018, there are increasing voices calling for an independent commission of inquiry into the case. “A number of questions remain unanswered,” said Rosa Logar, founder of the first Austrian women’s shelter. “These must be followed up with a technical and professional analysis.” Logar raised the question of why the family of the murdered woman had to contribute so much to the arrest of the suspect. Jennifer S.’s ex-boyfriend was only arrested around a week ago – almost eight years after the crime. “You can’t just go back to business as usual here,” said Logar, calling for a better culture of error.
