American director, actor and producer Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found dead in their home in Los Angeles on Sunday. Both apparently died from stab wounds, informs TASR based on reports from NBC News and CNN and the AP agency citing unnamed police sources.

Los Angeles police said that received a report of the discovery of two dead bodies in Reiner’s home in the Brentwood neighborhood, but she did not identify them. She added that the investigation into the murder is ongoing, but at this stage they are not looking for any suspects.
However, the death of Michele and Rob Reiner was announced by their spokesperson in a statement quoted by CNN. “It is with deep sadness that we announce the tragic deaths of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are devastated by this sudden loss and ask for privacy during this incredibly difficult time.” the spokesman said in a statement.
At around 3:30 p.m. local time, first the paramedics were called to the scene, and a few minutes later the police were also sent there. The street where Reiner’s home is located was blocked off with tape Sunday evening and several police cars were deployed to the area.
Reiner was born on March 6, 1947. He has long been one of the most prolific directors in Hollywood, making some of the most memorable films of the 1980s and 1990s, such as The group plays Spinal Tap (1984), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally (1989), Misery Doesn’t Want to Die (1990) or A Few Right Guys (1992). The last-named drama was nominated for an Oscar for best film.
His fictional character Michael Stivic nicknamed Meathead (Tupec) in the classic 1970s television series made him famous and won him two Emmy Awards. This year, Reiner appeared in four episodes of the TV series The Bear and in the movie Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, which he also directed.
Reiner had three children with producer Michele Singer (68). He was previously married to actress Penny Marshall, whose daughter he adopted from her previous marriage to Michael Henry.
Murders are rare in the Brentwood neighborhood. The crime scene is located near the home where Nicole Brown Simpson, wife of actor and football player OJ Simpson, and her boyfriend Ron Goldman were killed in 1994.
