Left celebrates Zambelli’s resignation, but emphasizes that decision does not reverse ineligibility

Carla Zambelli, arrested in Italy and awaiting extradition to Brazil, resigned from her mandate, trying to escape ineligibility, but it won’t do any good, because the Federal Constitution is explicit: ‘a deputy or senator who suffers a criminal conviction in a final and unappealable sentence will lose their mandate'”, said Valente.

Rogério Correia (PT-MG) also focused on ineligibility and praised the decision of the . “Zambelli is moving away from the Chamber, but he will not escape his ineligibility.
