The Federal Police stated that deputy Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ) left Brazil clandestinely in September, without registering at official immigration offices. According to the general director of the PF, Andrei Rodrigues, the parliamentarian crossed the border through Roraima, entered Guyana and, from there, embarked in Georgetown bound for the United States.
According to the PF, Ramagem entered American territory using a diplomatic passport that had already been ordered to be canceled. The case was presented by Rodrigues during a meeting with journalists, this Monday (15), in which he took stock of the corporation’s recent activities.
The deputy’s departure occurred in the same month that the Federal Supreme Court judged the main defendants in the central nucleus of the coup plot investigated by the Court. Ramagem was sentenced by the First Panel of the STF to 16 years, 1 month and 15 days in prison for crimes such as criminal organization, coup d’état and violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law.

At the same time, the PF is investigating who would have helped the parliamentarian to leave the country. According to information gathered by the corporation, there is evidence of logistical and financial support for the escape. Cavalcante also said that he intends to ask the president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), that the process that could lead to the revocation of Ramagem’s mandate not be discussed this week.
