Seguro, Ventura and Pestana formalize candidacies at the Constitutional Court

Three days before the deadline for formalizing candidacies for the Presidency of the Republic, three more candidates went to the Constitutional Court this morning to deliver signatures.

António José Seguro had already formalized his candidacy when he saw André Pestana, on the other side of the sidewalk, ready to formalize his candidacy too. Seguro decided to go and greet him while wishing him “all the best”.

O leader and main face of the Union for All Education Professionals (STOP), was waiting for his turn to deliver the Minimum 7,500 signatures required to run for President of the Republic.

O former PS leader brought more than 10 thousand signatures.

“10 thousand seeds of hope for a better future, with a decent country, an efficient State and, above all, a country that believes in itself”, said the candidate.

Seguro did not say whether he believes left-wing candidates will still give up. And even though he had already finished responding to journalists, he came back to say what hadn’t even been noticed.

Being here with these young people… I made a point of coming here today surrounded by young peoples to give a very clear signal that I want to form this coalition with young Portuguese people”, he stated.

André Ventura came surrounded by the team. Chega deputies and representatives of the presidential candidacy who, in front of the Constitutional Court on the day of the judges’ decision, record the feat.

“Leave me alone highlight the delivery of more than 14,200 signatures. The fact that we collected the 7,500 needed in an absolutely historic record for democracy in five hours, if I’m not mistaken”, wanted to highlight the candidate.

He then spent more than five minutes talking about the that the Government approved with Chega: “I respect the decisions of other bodies, even when I disagree with those decisions. Chega contributed a lot to the creation of a new Nationality Law. We need to control those to whom we give nationality. Portuguese nationality cannot be an open bar. Besides, I I am confident that this law will have the green light to be implemented today.

Ventura, unlike Seguro, left on foot, but not to meet other candidates, like Pestana. He delivered eight thousand signatures and guarantees that there are still “hundreds of signatures” that have not yet been delivered to him.

“We don’t have any party apparatus behind us, like the candidacies – legitimately – that preceded me had, because I will probably be the only candidate working. I’m a teacher at the Public School, here in Greater Lisbon, I went on a general strike”points out the main face of STOP.

Pestana says it was hard work getting the signatures.
