Tragic accident of a Slovak football player († 35): His car was engulfed in flames after hitting a tree

A serious traffic accident on the second-class road in the direction of the village of Vinohrady nad Váhom took one life on the evening of Wednesday, December 3. The Regional Directorate of the Police Force in Trnava wrote about it on the social network. “There was one person in the vehicle who, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries on the spot,” the police informed, adding that the exact causes and circumstances of the traffic accident will be the subject of an investigation.

The car crashed into a tree and caught fire. The driver in the vehicle succumbed to his injuries. “According to preliminary information, the driver of the vehicle had an as yet unknown cause smoothly, without braking, go off the road in the opposite direction and hit a tree“, the police said.

The regional directorate of the Fire and Rescue Service in Trnava also intervened on the spot. It showed that when the firefighters from Hlohovec arrived, the vehicle was in an advanced stage of burning. “After the fire was extinguished and the vehicle cooled down, the car was pulled back onto the road using a winch,” explained the fire department. During the intervention, the firefighters observed a human body inside the vehicle, but the man could no longer be helped…

A player from the club OŠK Vinohrady nad Váhom, who worked in the 7th league ObFZ Galanta, lost his life in a traffic accident. Ondrej Penciak was only 35 years old. OŠK Vinohrady nad Váhom also informed about his departure on the social network. “December 3 was recorded in our hearts as the day when our teammate and friend Ondro left,” they wrote in the introduction.

They take his departure hard. “Since then, it’s hard to believe that you won’t be standing next to us, laughing and fighting for every point… You brought joy, determination and friendship to the team that cannot be replaced. You were reliable on the field, always ready to perform and support the team…” they recalled.
