Vasco beats Fluminense on penalties and goes to the final of the Copa do Brasil

Guaranteed a place in the final by overcoming the on penalties, after a 1-0 defeat in regular time, this Sunday (14), at Maracanã, in the second leg of the semi-final. With the result, the match ended in a draw on aggregate, as Vasco had won the first leg 2-1.

The only goal of the game was scored in the first half, in a shot by full-back Paulo Henrique, who deflected into his own goal after a move by the Tricolor attack. The result led to the decision of the spot for penalty shootouts, in accordance with the competition regulations.

In the dispute, Vasco was more efficient and confirmed its qualification for the tournament final. The Cruz-Maltino team converted most of their shots and had decisive saves from the goalkeeper, while Fluminense wasted attempts that ended up being decisive for the outcome of the semi-final.

During the 90 minutes, Fluminense had a greater offensive presence and looked for a goal from the beginning, putting pressure on the opponent to equalize the aggregate score. Vasco, in turn, adopted a more cautious stance, prioritizing defensive organization and managing the advantage built in the first game.
