Sausages in puff pastry this is one of the simplest ideas for a hot dinner. They may not be exquisite, but they are great as a snack during informal events, e.g. New Year’s Eve party with friends. Just remember to choose good quality sausages with plenty of meat. To prepare the dish according to this recipe, you need an XXL sheet of dough measuring 25×50 cm. If you are planning a snack for a larger number of guests, multiply the number of ingredients accordingly.
To prepare this recipe, you will need:
- 8 chicken sausages,
- 8 slices of yellow cheese,
- 375 g of puff pastry,
- 1 egg.
You can serve ready-made snacks with: ketchup or make a garlic-herb sauce for it. Just combine thick Greek yogurt with chopped dill, chives, pressed garlic, salt and pepper.
Remove the inedible casings from the sausages. Wrap each with a slice of yellow cheese so that it does not cover it completely (leave 3 cm of the sausage on both sides, so that the cheese does not burn during baking).
Cut the puff pastry into 8 squares. Wrap each sausage in dough, arranging it diagonally across the square.
Line an oven tray with baking paper. Place the sausages in the dough on it at certain distances from each other. Brush the top (using a silicone brush) with beaten egg.
Put the tray in the oven preheated to 200°C. Bake the sausages for about 15 minutes – until the dough is golden brown.
Serve baked sausages with your favorite sauce, e.g. garlic.
