Everything that is known about the São Paulo box scandal

São Paulo was hit by a new scandal on Monday (15): an audio revealed an alleged scheme of irregular marketing of Morumbis boxes on show days.

According to material obtained by “ge.com”, Douglas Schwartzmannassistant director of São Paulo’s youth categories, (and ex-wife of the president Julio Casares), would be involved.

In the recording, Schwartzmann admits that he and other people would have obtained financial gains from the practice.

How the situation came to court

According to the content of the audios, box 3A, identified in internal documents as the “presidency room”, would have been passed on to an intermediary, Rita by Cassia Adriana Pradoresponsible for commercially exploring the space during singer Shakira’s show in February.

Tickets were sold for up to R$2,100, with estimated revenue of R$132,000 for this performance at the São Paulo stadium alone.

The situation took on legal consequences after Adriana filed a lawsuit in the 3rd Civil Court of São Paulo against Carolina Lima Cassemiro, from Cassemiro Eventos Ltda.

Adriana alleges that Carolina withheld, without authorization, an envelope with 60 tickets from the box on the day of the show, after partial payment of the agreed amount. The case was also recorded in a police report.

In the audio, Schwartzmann shows concern about the consequences of the legal process and states that the scheme could be revealed to the courts.

In several sections, he pressures Adriana to withdraw the action, warning of possible damage to the image of Mara Casares, Julio Casares and superintendent Marcio Carlomagno, cited as responsible for authorizing the transfer of the box.

The director also admits, at a certain point, that he “gained” from the transfer of boxes.

Mara Casares, in turn, appears in the recording asking Adriana to end the process to avoid harm to her career at São Paulo Futebol Clube. The director claims to have future plans in São Paulo and says that she would be the main loser if the case progressed through the courts.

In the process, Adriana says that Carolina took from her hands an envelope with 60 tickets from box 3A at Morumbis, on February 13, without authorization. She claims that the tickets were purchased by Carolina’s company for R$132,000, but only R$100,000 was paid.

Adriana registered a police report at the 34th Police Station, in São Paulo. Therefore, she was pressured by the others involved. Phone records were recorded and accessed by “ge.com”.

“Did you never know it was done clandestinely?”: what did the audios say?

“Did you never know that it was done clandestinely? That’s the word. Or didn’t you know? Did you know or not?”, asks Douglas Schwartzmann in one of the excerpts.

“I don’t have a box there. Who did it come from? What will happen: Mara will have to explain herself. How do you do at the club when you find out that she gave you a box to explore? You will end Mara’s life at the club. And Julio’s, because she is Julio’s (ex) wife.” completed.

Schwartzmann also mentions Marcio Carlomagno, general superintendent of the club.

“And Marcio will be sent away, because he was the one who gave the box to her (Mara). I have nothing to do with it, I don’t have my name on anything. I didn’t get any box, I don’t have any documents there. Now, Mara has it and so does Marcio. Do you want to harm Mara and Marcio?”, he asks.

“I just wanted to understand what you want to do with this. Márcio Carlomagno, CEO, asked me: ‘Have you already finished the process? What are we going to do? I’m going to have to involve everyone’s name here, I’m going to have to declare the truth’. He just told me. I said: ‘No, don’t worry, Mara is talking to Adriana, and she’s going to withdraw the process’. I just wrote. Then you do what you want, I can’t do anything else. I can’t get involved. about it”, continued the director.

According to “ge.com”, the call was recorded before the series of shows at Morumbis from September to November this year.

Schwartzmann remembers the possibility of their “partnership” ending before the screenings of Imagine Dragons, Dua Lipa, Linkin Park and Oasis.

São Paulo’s assistant director of youth football warns of the possibility of Mara being harmed. “It’s your decision, Adriana. That’s what Mara wants to know. If you’re going to fuck her or if you’re going to help. That’s all”, comments Douglas. Adriana counters that she doesn’t “intend to screw anyone.”

Douglas also advised Julio Casares’ ex-wife.

“Mara, I’m going to give you some advice, with all due respect. If this lawsuit doesn’t come to fruition, you’re going to have to testify against Adriana. You’re going to say that you had no involvement, that you never gave anything, that you were harmed. That you didn’t even know about it. You’re going to have to side with the other person there.”

According to “ge.com”, Adriana, Mara and Douglas do not explain how long they have been doing business or the number of cabins that were negotiated.

Who was responsible for the cabin

In a statement, São Paulo confirmed that box 3A belongs to the club and informed that, on the day of Shakira’s show, the space was destined for the women’s, cultural and events directorate –directed by Mara.

The club stated that it was unaware of the content of the audio and denied the existence of any illegal scheme. In a later note, he reiterated that he refutes the irregular marketing of the box.

What those mentioned say

Mara Casares acknowledged that the space was given to intermediary Adriana Prado, but denied having received any financial benefit.

According to her, the transfer took place in a timely manner and based on a relationship of trust, which was broken when Adriana allegedly passed on the cabin to third parties without authorization. The director also stated that she called Douglas Schwartzmann just to help her in trying to resolve the conflict.

Quoted in the recording, Marcio Carlomagno declared that he was surprised by the use of his name and denied that the box had been used clandestinely.

Carolina Lima Cassemiro stated that she was unaware of the irregularity of the space and claimed to have been deceived, maintaining that she fulfilled the agreement signed.

Douglas Schwartzmann and Rita de Cassia Adriana Prado did not respond to contacts from “ge.com”.

Punishments?
