
70 people were left homeless in an explosion in a building that was left uninhabitable. The explosion was probably caused by a gas leak. There are still seven injured.
One explosion in a building in Trevoux, Lyon, late this Monday afternoon, victimized two children born to a Portuguese father and French mother, aged three and five.
According to Antena 1, along with Cardia Limaadvisor to the Portuguese communities, who was at the scene, the explosion occurred at around 5:30 pm and is being attributed to a gas leak.
It also adds that the building had undergone maintenance work.
Resources were mobilized for rescue and investigation, including 50 firefighters, 36 vehicles and medical personnel to provide assistance to victims of the explosion which resulted in further seven injured.
Five people with minor injuries were taken to hospitals in the region, and two people with minor injuries went to the hospital on their own, the municipality said in a press release.
As RTP states, the apartment where the explosion occurred was located on the ground floor of the four-story building that became uninhabitable in that town of 6,930 inhabitants.
“I heard a loud bang. When I went downstairs, I saw that the door and window were completely destroyed. The mother was with her children under the rubble“, testified a neighbor, quoted by the same channel.
