Latam opened this Monday, the 15th, a selection process to hire captains and co-pilots who will operate Embraer aircraft that will join the airline’s fleet in the last quarter of 2026.
The company will pay, once, a hiring bonus of R$160,000 for commanders and R$80,000 for approved copilots. Registration will be open until January 4, 2026 on the Latam Work with Us page. Professionals will be admitted from February next year.
The requirements for the position of commander include a minimum of 5,000 hours of flying experience on scheduled airlines, with at least 3,000 hours on jet aircraft and at least 500 hours as pilot in command on aircraft similar to or larger than the Embraer E195-E2. For copilots, the requirement is at least 500 total hours of airplane flight.
In September, Latam had already announced an agreement to acquire up to 74 single-aisle E195-E2 aircraft. The order includes 24 firm orders, valued at US$2.1 billion (at list price), in addition to 50 purchase options. Deliveries of the 24 aircraft will begin in the second half of 2026, initially for Latam Airlines Brasil, with the potential to include other affiliates of the group.
Currently, Azul is the only airline to operate Embraer aircraft in Brazil. Even before the opening of new vacancies, Estadão found that, in September, around 40 professionals left Azul – approximately 90% of them for Latam. With the delivery of the E195-E2 scheduled for next year and the opening of the selection process, more pilots may migrate from Azul to the competitor.
Latam is today the largest employer in the national airline sector, with more than 22 thousand employees, including 2,300 pilots and 5,200 flight attendants, according to data from the airline itself.
