The general director of , Andrei Rodrigues, stated this Monday (15) that the federal deputy (-RJ) left Brazil clandestinely via the border with Guyana and that an investigation is underway to identify who helped in his escape.
“It seems very clear to me that it was via Guyana, leaving Brazil clandestinely, without passing through any migration point, boarding at Georgetown airport for Miami [Estados Unidos]. So this is the path and now the investigation continues to see if there are others involved and what the circumstances are,” said Andrei.
The PF also knows that Ramagem left Brazil using a diplomatic passport, which was ordered to be canceled, but was never seized. This finding will be reported to Interpol so that the document can be blocked.
Ramagem is on the run from Brazilian justice and living in the United States. He was sentenced by the STF to 16 years and one month in prison for participating in an attempted coup d’état. He follows, however,
Last weekend, son of gold miner Rodrigo Cataratas, who allegedly helped Ramagem escape through Guyana.
According to Andrei, he will be interrogated in the coming days and there will be an examination of his cell phone (which was also seized).
“We became aware of this parliamentarian’s departure and the investigation then reached this group that would have facilitated the escape,” said Andrei. “The suspect who allegedly helped in the escape was arrested on Saturday [13] and a cell phone and other materials were seized. He will also probably be interrogated in the next few days and, from then on, we will have more details”, said Andrei.
