A strong windstorm hit the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, in Brazil, and caused the fall of a replica of the Statue of Liberty, approximately 24 meters high, installed in front of a Havan chain store, in the city of Guaíba. The structure, mounted on a high base, could not resist the force of the winds, which exceeded 90 km/h.
Images of the collapse spread quickly on social media, but despite the visual impact there were no injuries or damage to nearby vehicles or buildings. The area was immediately cordoned off for security reasons.
According to the company, the statue had technical certification and assessments will be carried out to determine the causes of the fall.
