In 2018, Slovakia ordered 14 of these modern machines as a replacement for the Soviet Mig-29 donated to Ukraine. Although deliveries have slowed down due to the pandemic and we still have half of the squadron at the base in Kuchyna, the remaining already produced pieces will arrive in Slovakia gradually in the coming years.
The American arms company Lockheed Martin has announced that it has completed the production of all F-16 Block 70 fighters for Slovakia and Bulgaria. TASR informs about it.

Slovakia signed a contract for 14 American-made F-16 C/D Block 70 fighters at the end of 2018 with the aim of modernizing its air force and replacing the then-unused MiG-29 fighters, which, together with air defense systems, have since been handed over as aid to Ukraine attacked by Russia.
Slovakia has so far seven of the ordered machines
The delivery of American fighter jets to Slovakia was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Slovak Air Force currently has at its disposal seven of the ordered machines, the first of which arrived at the military airport in Kuchyna near Malacky in the summer of last year. The rest are to be delivered gradually until 2027.
“Complete squadrons of F-16 Block 70 aircraft will enable Bulgaria and Slovakia to secure their air defenses and support NATO patrols with modern, fully interoperable fighter aircraft. These aircraft directly connect to NATO systems and support missions already performed by F-16 operators across Europe,” Lockheed Martin said in a statement Monday.
