“We’re not going to name anyone unless we have a conversation with Boulos and clarify things better, because many of the movements made by associations are really resolved by the union structure”, he states. “These social movements do not have an effective capacity to make strong demands, so we have to demonstrate synergy”, he adds.
The president of UGT states that, without this, the working group “will not move forward”. “This is not going anywhere. And Boulos is aware that, in the world of work, it is the union structure that represents the workers, and not the associations”, he adds.
When contacted, the General Secretariat of the Presidency states that the trade unions were invited to participate in the Delivery Workers’ Technical Working Group and “can nominate their representatives at any time”. “One of the GT’s objectives is to also listen to the broad sectors of the category that are not unionized”, he continues. “That’s why entities that have other forms of organization, such as workers’ associations with regional representation, were invited.”
