Away from the combustion engine: VCÖ warns against deceptive packaging for hybrid cars


Vienna – The EU Commission’s plans to allow plug-in hybrids with combustion engines to continue after 2035 are met with incomprehension by the VCÖ. Data from the European Environment Agency show that hybrid cars would emit, on average, four times as much climate-damaging CO₂ as the manufacturer claims. The traffic club warns that real CO₂ emissions are only slightly lower than those of petrol and diesel cars.
