Czech MPs will discuss the motion of confidence in the government of Andrej Babiš on January 13, 2026. According to the chairman of the Chamber of Deputies, Tomio Okamura, this will be the second item on the agenda of the regular session of the Chamber, informs TASR according to the website idnes.cz.
“The vote of confidence in the government will take place on Tuesday, January 13. The meeting will start at 11:00 a.m.,” Okamura said. According to the website idnes.cz, it is expected that the cabinet of Prime Minister Babiš will gain confidence.
The new Czech government officially took office on Monday, when it was appointed by President Petr Pavel at Prague Castle. It consists of the ANO, SPD and Motoristi parties. According to the Czech constitution, the newly appointed government must ask the Chamber of Deputies for a vote of confidence within 30 days and its chairman must, based on the rules of procedure, include this proposal in the agenda of the next plenary session.
The coalition of ANO, SPD and Motorists has a majority of 108 out of 200 votes in the lower chamber, and the government must receive the support of the majority of the deputies present in order to gain confidence.
