Donald Trump has extended the ban on entering the USA, it applies to seven more countries

Trump extended the ban on entering the US to nationals of seven other countries. The measure also applies to Palestinian Authority passport holders.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday extended the ban on entering the US to nationals of seven other countries, including Syria, as well as to holders of Palestinian Authority passports. TASR informs about it according to the reports of the AFP and Reuters agencies.

Trump’s decision came a few days after two American soldiers and a civilian interpreter were killed in an attack by a suspected attacker from the Islamic State (IS) in the Syrian city of Palmyra.

Extension of the entry ban

In a post on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, Trump promised “very serious retaliation.”

The White House said in a statement that the US president signed a statement that “expands and tightens entry restrictions for nationals of countries with demonstrable, persistent and serious deficiencies in control, vetting and information sharing to protect the nation from threats to national security and public safety.”

Banned countries

Other countries affected by the newly introduced total travel ban are some of Africa’s poorest countries – Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and South Sudan. The measure also applies to Laos and Sierra Leone, which have so far only been subject to partial restrictions.

According to the White House, the expanded ban should come into effect on January 1.
