Vienna – Erste Group has received the green light to invest billions in the Polish Santander Bank Polska. The Polish financial regulator KNF approved the purchase announced in May, the authority announced on Wednesday. Erste Group is acquiring a 49 percent stake in the Polish subsidiary of the Spanish bank Santander for 6.8 billion euros. It is one of the largest cross-border banking transactions in Europe in recent years.
