Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca explained why Brazilian striker Estêvão was not even on the bench in the 3-1 victory over Cardiff, on Tuesday (16), in the English League Cup. The Brazilian was left off the related list without prior notification.

In a statement released by the club this Wednesday morning (17), the Blues coach informed that the player is recovering from an injury. According to Maresca, it is a mild muscle problem.
— Estêvão has a small muscle discomfort, nothing serious. He will not be able to play against Newcastle this weekend, but we will re-evaluate the situation later. I believe that we will soon be able to count on him again,” said the coach, through the statement.
