Hamas again accuses Israel of violating ceasefire in the Gaza Strip

The senior official of the Palestinian group Hamas, Ghazi Hamad, accused Israel, on Tuesday (16), of repeatedly violating the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and of killing around 400 Palestinians since it came into force.

The Hamas leader stated that Israel has committed more than 800 violations, including murders, executions, shooting at civilians, bombings and summary executions, since it came into effect on October 10.

Hamad also accused Israeli forces of repeatedly crossing the “”, which delimits the zone from which Israeli troops have not withdrawn into Palestinian territory, as stipulated in the agreement.

He stated that around 400 Palestinians have been killed due to ceasefire violations, with more than 95% of them civilians.

The Israeli side has continuously obstructed humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire agreement came into force. Furthermore, the Israeli army continues to withhold information about detained and missing Palestinians, Hamad said.

He called on the mediating parties and relevant international institutions to take immediate and concrete measures to prevent the Israeli army from continuing to violate the ceasefire agreement and to maintain stability in Gaza.

Israel must take full responsibility for all actions that violated and undermined the peace agreement, Hamad said.

On the same day, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said in a statement that the combination of severe weather conditions and the ongoing blockade had led to shelter-in-places in the Palestinian territory, with children freezing to death, creating a serious humanitarian crisis in the region.

As the Israeli army allowed less than 10% of the agreed fuel supply into Gaza, coupled with severe shortages of heating equipment, the sudden drop in temperatures in Gaza made living conditions even more difficult for the population, Qassem said.

If the international community does not intervene promptly, Gaza will face an inevitable catastrophe, the spokesperson added.
