The president (PT) defended this Wednesday (17) greater dialogue with the and said “he has nothing against anyone” when citing the presidents of the Senate, (União Brasil-AP) and of , (-PB).
“I have nothing against anyone. I’m friends with Hugo Motta, from [Arthur] Lira, from [Rodrigo] Pacheco, from Alcolumbre. I’m grateful for what they’ve done over these three years with me and, when a disagreement arises, it’s important to remember that we need to talk more, smooth out the edges. I’m willing to do this because we are grateful for everything that has been approved so far,” he said.
“I don’t know of a government in history that managed, in an adverse Congress like we had, to approve half of what we approved. It’s the victory of bilateralism, negotiation, patience, conversation. That’s how we’re going to achieve it”, added the PT member.
The speeches were made during a ministerial meeting held this Wednesday, at Granja do Torto, the official country house of the Presidency. At this periodic meeting, which usually takes place at least twice a year, the president brings together his ministers to take stock of the government’s deliveries for the year and make demands for the following year.
Lula had already minimized the recent friction with Congress and attributed the lack of approval of some management projects in the Legislature to the political articulation of his government.
“I wanted to tell you that I am very grateful for everything Congress has done for us in these three years of government, both the Chamber and the Chamber”, he declared. “That which was not approved, possibly because [foi porque] We didn’t have the capacity to convince them to approve it.”
In recent months, Lula’s relationship with Congress has suffered setbacks. Lula’s bid for the vacancy of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) contradicted the president of the Senate, who defended the name of the senator (-MG), one of his main allies.
Now, Messias’ name needs to be approved by the senators, in a scenario of strong resistance from Alcolumbre.
In parallel, the president said that Congress had hijacked the Budget through parliamentary amendments, and complained to members of the Palácio do Planalto.
At the beginning of the month, after an exchange of criticism in public speeches between the PT member and the president of the Senate, Alcolumbre changed the tone, with a message of thanks to Lula through the Minister of Health, during an event in Amapá.
“Padilha, thank you very much. Please convey my personal and institutional thanks to the President of the Republic, who has supported us and Amapá at all times”, he stated.
