The Lula government considered the postponement of the project against factions and the Security PEC to 2026 positive, as it saw a great risk of being defeated in both if the vote in the Chamber took place in this last week of work.
“It’s good to have a breather. You can’t make laws at the drop of a hat”, says the national secretary of Security, Mário Sarrubbo.
The tendency was for the anti-factions project to include points of criminal hardening defended by rapporteur Guilherme Derrite (PP-SP), and the PEC to include measures such as a referendum on reducing the age of criminal responsibility.
“With the boil lower, we can talk better next year”, says Sarrubbo. Party leaders are skeptical, however, that the government will change the negative result, now or later.
