The president (PT) stated this Wednesday (17) that next week he will transform gospel music into Brazilian heritage, in a new nod to the evangelical population.
The PT member is trying to get closer to the evangelical electorate for the 2026 elections, which in recent years has been mostly closer to (PL).
Lula’s announcement was made during a ministerial meeting held at Granja do Torto, the official country house of the Presidency. When mentioning the intention to declare gospel music heritage, the PT member made a mention of the Union’s attorney general, , who is evangelical and was nominated for a vacancy on the (Supreme Federal Court).
“We are going to transform gospel music, Messiah, into heritage. Next week, you can be prepared, because, in addition to being a minister of the Supreme Court, you will be able to sing gospel music at Palácio do Planalto”, declared the president.
Messias still needs to be discussed and approved by the Senate, where he faces resistance from the president of the House, Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP). As shown by Sheetthe AGU has focused on topics such as abortion to try to turn over votes.
He will only take up a seat on the court if he has at least 41 votes in the House plenary. First, it needs to be subjected to a hearing by the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission).
Lula’s contradicted Alcolumbre, who defended the name of the former president of the House (-MG), one of his main allies.
