PoderData: Lula ends 3rd year with 43% negative reviews

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) ends the third year of his current term with a high rate of negative evaluation. Search PowerData carried out between December 13th and 15th shows that 43% of Brazilians consider the government “bad” or “terrible”.

During the same government period, only Jair Bolsonaro and José Sarney recorded worse disapproval rates.

In the third year of his term, Bolsonaro accumulated a 57% “bad/terrible” rating at the end of 2021, around ten months before running for re-election and losing by a narrow margin in 2022.

Sarney had a negative rating of 65% in March 1988, in the context of a transitional government that did not foresee reappointment to the position.

Unfavorable historical comparison

Other presidents presented a more comfortable scenario at the end of the third year. Fernando Henrique Cardoso recorded lower disapproval rates in both his first and second terms. Dilma Rousseff also had a less negative assessment of the government at the same point.

Lula himself, in his two previous terms, appeared in a more favorable situation in opinion polls when he completed three years at Palácio do Planalto, which highlights a relevant change in the electorate’s perception of the current government.

The survey was carried out by Poder360 based on research from PoderData and Datafolha, based on journalistic collections and the website’s Research Aggregator.
