Part of the systematic intimidation of independent media or already an expression of the new American hostility towards Europe? As announced, US President Donald Trump has sued the world’s most famous public broadcaster for unfair business practices and defamation. The complaint against the BBC at the South Florida Court of Justice mentions ten billion dollars (8.5 billion euros/7.9 billion francs) in damages. The institution was guilty of “derogatory, inflammatory and malicious representation” and thereby damaged the Trump brand name.
