According to media reports, Czech actress Jana Stryková (46) has filed a lawsuit against the Ananda Spa relaxation center, with which she established cooperation last year. The portal Teraz writes about it, claiming that she was not paid fairly, and demands compensation in the amount of 400,000 Czech crowns (almost 16,500 euros).
Last year, Stryková took a series of pictures that the new relaxation center, inspired by traditional Indian medicine, used for promotion. The background of the cooperation is indeed non-standard. „The actress expressly did not want to conclude a cooperation contract in writing. At that time, everything was on a friendly level, so we granted her wish,” explained the center’s PR representative Martin Opatrný.
At first everything went smoothly. The actress was supposed to be satisfied with the center’s services. „Ms. Stryková even liked to use the services of the center herself, which she praised. She gave the impression that she was interested in being the face of an interesting concept without trying to make as much money as possible from the collaboration,“ added the PR representative. The turning point came in the summer of this year, when her agent contacted her and demanded a much higher fee.
According to her, the reason behind the turnaround was the ambiguities surrounding the original agreement. „But everything gave the impression that it was more about money than confusion,” stated Opatrný. According to him, the center offered the actress a significant increase in her original salary. „We wanted to maintain good relations. At the same time, we have already invested considerable funds in the campaign, so we tried to come to an agreement and offered to increase her reward by hundreds of thousands“, he revealed further.
Stryková did not agree to the offer, and moreover, she should have withdrawn her consent to the use of her likeness. The center was forced to withdraw all visuals. „Unfortunately, the actress ignored the efforts for a constructive agreement. I guess the reward offered to her was not enough, so she revoked her consent to use her visuals. Despite the incurred costs, we subsequently withdrew everything and, for example, had to throw away the printed catalogs,” added Opatrný.
The Czech portal claims that the actress filed a lawsuit demanding 400,000 Czech crowns (almost 16,500 euros), referring to her colleague Vica Kerekes. According to her, the Slovak actress of Hungarian nationality should be better paid. Kerekes is the face of another luxurious relaxation center with Ayurvedic philosophy.
Careful pointed out. „Ms. Stryková compares herself to Vica Kerekes. As part of our efforts to settle the situation, we even offered Mrs. Stryková an increase of her original remuneration by 250 thousand crowns, but even that was probably not enough for her. Everything gives the impression of purposeful pressure led by the vision of the greatest possible financial profit,” he does not skimp on sharp statements.
It started as a friendly collaboration, but unexpectedly turned into a legal battle. „If you befriend someone and then try to get the most out of it, then it probably won’t be very ethical. At the same time, it is strange that the actress herself did not want any written contract. We can speculate about the reasons,” Opatrný concluded.
