The new book Recipes can also be your garden guide. Step by step. A whole year

If you are one of those people who go to look at the garden in every season and notice small changes in nature, this book will grab you right from the first page. It is not a dry instruction, but a guide that will take you through the garden step by step and teach you to look at it with new eyes.

If you love to garden and let yourself be enchanted by nature in , this book is for you: A guide to the garden, step by step.

The editorial team of Receptář magazine, i.e. editor Eva Všetíčková, text author Jana Bucharová and also graphic artist Marta Laňková, who gave the book its face and dynamics, prepared the book with love and respect for everything that happens in the garden.

“For me, the book is like a syllabary for a first grader – just as children learn to read with it, every layman can learn to become a real gardener with it,” its editor Eva Všetíčková introduces it.

Page by page, he reveals all the secrets of the garden, shows how to care for it with understanding and joy, how to perceive its natural cycles and how to find one’s roots in them. Because not only blooming flowers, or just collected herbs, but also hands in the dirt bring that satisfaction and happiness, because of which we are willing to bend down to the flower beds again and again, drive wheelbarrows with dirt and take care of the precious compost.

What pleased the author of the texts, Jana Bucharová, the most during the preparation of the book? “Going through the whole year, through each of its seasons. Sometimes it wasn’t quite easy for me to tune into summer when autumn was just around the corner. But going through all the seasons at an accelerated pace had its charm. And it’s great how cyclical time gives us a chance to start again every spring.”

A place where miracles happen

The garden is a place of miracles — again and again every year. Tension during the first steps after the melted snow, the tenderness of spring onions, the emotion of the first apple blossoms, the joy of the return of the birds and the pride of seeing the first own harvest. Anyone who knows the feeling when the colors of the flowerbeds change your eyes, when the tomatoes smell of summer and when you carry freshly dug potatoes to the kitchen in a basket, knows that a garden is not just a piece of land. It is a world to which we return because it fills us, soothes us and teaches us to wonder anew every year.

And what does living in the garden and in nature in general provide Jana Bucharová? “Nature gives me everything, after all, I am an integral part of it. The garden is a piece of nature that I can influence and grow on it the goodies that inventive people have bred. And also create the greatest possible variety on a small area, which is often unfortunately missing in the surrounding landscape. Gardens can become islands of diversity full of life and thus benefit everyone.”

Advice where to look

Yes, that’s what all passionate gardeners would want! If you feel that way too, the book Guide to the garden, step by step, can become your faithful advisor. It will guide you step by step through all the seasons, bringing practical advice, proven tips and poetic observations, why it is worth living in the rhythm of nature.

“It’s not just a book about growing. It’s a loving invitation back to the soil, to the scents, colors, peace and unexpected joys that only your own garden can give,” says Klára Antošová, editor-in-chief of Recipe. And she adds that several of her friends will discover the book under the tree this year, who have discovered the magic of gardening, but so far they are mostly getting into it through their growing failures. “Jana, Marta and Eva have prepared the book in a perfect, logical, clear and attractive way so that even novice gardeners will not be intimidated by the amount of information and expertise. It is a book that you will read in the garden under a parasol, it will entertain you and at the same time inspire you.”

The book will also be a great inspiration for the graphic artist Marta, who is preparing to start a new garden after the renovation of the house, and says that the book will definitely become her personal guide: “In the spring, there will be no more scaffolding around the house, so the garden will come, which means starting from scratch. We have to revive and prune the currants, maybe buy new ones and also other plants, and we want to start a small greenhouse for my beloved tomatoes. But since the book is a guide for the whole year, I will look for answers in it and advice throughout the year,” says Marta.

We asked each of the creators of the book one question about the body:

  1. Marta Laňková: What are you most proud of?

“To the overall approach of our editors, cooperation and total commitment in the “gallows” term. I am proud that we managed it and that the book is really good. So for the overall composition of the book, for interesting topics, for great advice and tips, and that, in short, everything turned out as it should and succeeded.”

  1. Eva Všetíčková: Who would you give the book to?

“I would definitely give it to my friends Simona and Zuzana, because they both inherited their garden, have never gardened before and are still struggling with the trial-and-error system. This will definitely show them how to get along with the garden and really enjoy it.”

  1. Jana Bucharová: Who will appreciate the book the most?

“It will primarily serve novice gardeners, who will find in it a basic overview of how to grow the most popular crops and flowers, how to select and plant trees, how to use natural helpers and at the same time benefit natural diversity. It can also be useful for advanced growers, who will be reminded of certain things at the right time and may even bring a little new inspiration.”
