O daily. Trump accuses the president of Venezuela of using oil to finance his regime.
“The illegitimate Maduro regime is using the oil from these stolen fields to finance itself, drug trafficking, human trafficking, murder and kidnapping,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
This is not the first time that Trump has attacked Venezuelan oil workers. In 2019, during his first term, he imposed sanctions on the oil sector as a way of putting pressure on the Maduro government, which reduced the country’s oil exports. However, even with the restrictions, which are still in force, Venezuela exports around 1 million barrels per day.
