Movies with unique stories

“Beer has run out in Hurikan’s favorite restaurant. The barmaid Bára is desperate and Hurikan, who is secretly into her, wants to help her. Hurikan takes an empty keg and sets out to get a new one in one of the wildest parts of Prague – Koněvova Street. But the beer wholesaler is closed, the empty keg is stolen from him by a homeless man, and after a chase with the police Hurikan is beaten up in the bar by a coked-up brawler. Despite he manages to get the barrel and bring it back to Bára. But after all that, Hurikán is very thirsty…,” the website of the Slovak Film Institute (SFÚ) presents the film.

SFÚ wrote about the film I died in Irpina: “Time has passed, but the feeling that I died in Irpina has never left me since. The short animated film I died in Irpina reconstructs a real story of survival using a subjective lens, with the magical power of animation that moves civilian narrative to new meanings.”

Five final nominations will be selected from the shortlist on January 22, 2026. The announcement of the winners and the presentation of the statuettes is scheduled for March 15. Comedian Conan O’Brien will accompany the evening.
