Volleyball Club World Cup: Praia Clube beats Al-Rayyan and makes a great debut

In the match valid for the first round of the group stage of the Volleyball Club World Cup, Praia Clube beat Al-Rayyan, from Qatar, by 3 sets to 0 (25/17, 25/21 and 25/21) this Tuesday (16), in Belém.

Opposite Franco Paese commanded the Minas Gerais team’s attack with 18 points scored, 17 from attack and one from blocking. Also noteworthy are the performances of Paulo Vinicios, Pietro and Isac, authors of three aces each.

This was Praia’s first victory in the history of the Club World Cup. The club based in Uberlândia competed in the tournament for the first time last year, but ended up eliminated in the group stage with three defeats in three matches played.

Praia Clube returns to the courts this Wednesday (17), at 8:30 pm (Brasília time), when they face Vôlei Renata. Afterwards, the Minas Gerais team will end their campaign in the first phase against Warta Zawiercie, from Poland, on Thursday (18), at 6pm.

In the other group, Sada Cruzeiro won against the Japanese Osaka Bluteon for 3 sets to 0, in partials of 25/14, 25/18 and 25/14. The Belo Horizonte team will try to recover this Wednesday, at 10 am, against Al-Swehly, from Libya.
