He Kremlin has rejected this Tuesday bet on one Christmas truce in Ukraine claiming that it would serve to reinforce the other side, in response to a demand from German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to stop the fighting this holiday. “We want peace, not a truce that gives Ukraine breathing space to prepare and continue the war,” said the Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskovwho has stressed that Russia will continue as before.
“We want to stop this conflict, achieve our objectives, protect our interests and guarantee peace in Europe. That is what we want,” remarked the spokesman for the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, as reported by the Russian news agency Interfax.
