Professional bodybuilder Wang Kun died at age 30 this week. The information was confirmed by the Anhui Provincial Bodybuilding Association, which associated the Chinese athlete’s death with a possible heart attack.
Throughout his career, the bodybuilder went through three different categories in the IFBB Pro League (acronym for “International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness Professional League”, which means Professional League of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness in free translation): 212, Classic Physique and Open Bodybuilding.
Another highlight in his journey on stage was his eighth consecutive championship in the national CBBA (“Chinese Bodybuilding Association” or Associação Cinessa de Fisiculturismo) competition.
The death in question reignited, on social media, a series of debates about the health of bodybuilding athletes. The sport has seen deaths like those of Cedric McMillan, Shawn Rhoden and George Peterson in recent years.
